  1. Baris says:

    Congratulations, πŸ™‚
I have lost the username password for that forum but it should take few seconds.
    Briefly:
I didn’t see any bug or error in my Siberian game till my play 1919 FEB. Options were working but there are many massages missing Ex: WH3_internal disorder level 0 notification and typhus events.

Corruption level is always in the message log but not internal disorder level.
Monitor type British vessel has “strategist” strait.
Red fort batteries have “friends with high people” trait.

Turkish army took control of Derbent,Elizavetbol and has her flag in them. Baku was also captured but she has Azerbaijan flag. Bisheherakhov(his cossacks troops have Turkmen sign next to them) took control of the city and Baku Red guards is the garrison. They all together protecting the city. I think there is a problem. Other than that as playing Siberians I was able to see Turkish forces in map and could change postures.

I think random cohesion loses for outside theatre of local troops is not working. I couldn’t observe cohesion loss. I stop building concripts. Building cossack regiments is much better.

If it is possible could the whites build corps size units like reds. It is too much micromanagement to build single elements and organize them.

Other than that everything is going well. Game didn’t finish yet but close to Moscow. πŸ™‚

    • Clovis says:

Bisherakov: working as designed. They were 2 Bisherakov brother, one depicted in Terek area, the second in my baku setup. He came with some men to the rescue of Baku when Communists were yet in power. I portrayed them in White colors because they were essentially motived by Russian nationalism and certainly English bribe (:-) ).

Random losses;: events work but the penalty is certainly too low.

IDL notification messages: curious. It works for me. I suspect a hole with 0 value not taken into account. Would need the script log file.

White brigades for easying building is indeed a necessity. I will introduce that ASAP.

      I will investigate Monitor too.

    • Clovis says:

Found the cause I hope to abilities mismatches.

  2. Baris says:

And after czech demobilizarion event Gaida was locked for one turn and his troops teleported to Chelyabinsk. I bring them back.

    • Clovis says:

Working as designed: there’s no way to create the new Czech units in the region Gaida is located when Czechs demobilize. For your info, that’s why the event never fires in the offcial game. So I “create again” a new Gaida with the new units.

  3. Clovis says:

Matrix forums seems to be down currently.

Events about cohesion losses outside home area fixed ( forgot the minus sign πŸ˜‰ ). So using them toward Moscow should now work as designed.

What puzzles me is the iDL to level 0. It should be higher. what options have you used?

    • Baris says:

IDL was mostly 1. Corruption was level 1 but become 2 in the last turns. FI is 11
I have used enforce social reforms,Unifying Siberian factions, 2 times reduce corruption. And 2- times increased concription and requisiton. Didn’t use anything else as far as I remember.

Actually Moscow( Even Reds didn’t built Leningrad lines yet.) is well garrisoned and additionaly 20k+ Men moved to intercept my army in Nizhny Novgorod. Kamenev has also good force in Tambov. I m curious how it will turn out.

      • Clovis says:

        social reform: -1
        reduce corruption * 2: at best -2

        new conscrition and requisition: 2

        total :-1

Either you have been very very lucky, or there is something wrong in the IDL eveolution events πŸ˜‰ Going to check that.

  4. berto says:

Sorry, but it seems your FY 1.07 Matrix Forum post is a simple copy-and-paste of your message here, and refers to “the box to the left” (which is only true here at Modder Corner). In other words, there is no FY 1.07 download link at the Matrix Forum thread!

  5. berto says:

Still don’t see it. But then I’m blind. πŸ˜‰

    • Clovis says:

1st line: A first VERY beta version of Fatal Years 1.07 is now available on my blog ( see my sig). πŸ™‚

Now, I will be much more detailed when FY will have been ironed out. Seems to be in rather good shape, considering 1.07 has changed between 300 to 400 events, among other modifications.

  6. berto says:

Ah, okay. You will direct downloaders to Modder Corner until you have a finished (or more polished) release. Understood.

I just installed the mod, and fired it up. Time to give it a spin!

  7. Baris says:

Late may 1919 Siberians advance to Moscow come to halt near Vladimir. Not possible to move further bacause of Frunze:) Reds getting crowded. Which wasn’t the case in any game I have played with Siberians previously. I definetely need corps size units.
Corruption is now 5 and it seems it is not decreasing at all via option. Chance of 60% firing a turn. Losing WS, money and EP.

  8. Baris says:

Corruption level is now 6 !(75% a turn to lose EP) When I try to use the option EP is lowering already. By the way Red AI is excellent. Defending Tambov and Moscow very well. Playing Siberians become challange for the first time.

    • Clovis says:

Corruption level may indeed be randomly altered (+1 or -1) to add to war hazzards. The reduce corruption option will reduce it one time on two tries. Siberian are more exposed to corruption too than the 2 other factions ( for example Gaida requested supplies for 100,000 men when its army numbered 30,000; go figure πŸ˜‰ ).

I’m proud RED AI is yet a tough opponent. And you have yet had a easier start with Siberian than expected because of some bugs. I really belive the new Siberian rules to portray accurately both the ability for Siberians to launch spectacular offensives and the difficulty they had to confirm in the long term these brilliant yet unstable successes.

  9. Baris says:

I Have 130, SW 105 and Reds have 46 NM but Reds have much bigger army getting stronger. And in the first time I believe I won’t defeat Reds πŸ™‚ But I wonder Reds dind’t lose Tzaritzyn,Moscow,Kharkov and Leningrad why they have low NM?
I must say this should be what RCW should be in the beginning.

    • Clovis says:

I need a savegame with the last backup turn to answer you. I’m as much surprised than you by a so low NM, an outcome coming either from a bug or a balance problem. Maybe the reduce corruption introduction for Reds is creating a big headache for the AI.

  10. Baris says:

    Thanks πŸ™‚
Last few turns I’m gettin 400 money from no where. It is not regional policy or foreign. I can post the save file.

And by the way for the first time Red army by 3-4 stacks push me out of Novgorod. Im retreating to Kazan.

    • Clovis says:

Yes, of course. Money isn’t free in FY πŸ˜‰

      • Baris says:

I delete the previous ones and upload the new ones. πŸ™‚
        Thanks.

      • Clovis says:

OK, I’ve found the reason. Not a bug but a message string missing and a balance problem. To explain shortly, I’ve created events convertiong 200 WSU to 500 money. That’s a recurrent problem in AGEOD games for WSU stockpiling as needs to build aren’t as high than in the first turns in later games. The maintenance cost in WSU of guns is underrated and unfortunately I don’t know how to mod this. So these new events allow player to get some use from this stockpiling. Now the conversion rate is too genrous. It will be 300 money for 200 WSU.

  11. Baris says:

Great. WSU to money is good idea.

I played Reds for a few turns and with Muraviev event: him,Trotsky and Tuhacevski changed sides to Siberians while in the same stack.(I coulnd’t see notification in message log)

  12. Baris says:

Excellent event with picture. I like it a lot.
What is the percentage of Muraviev being executed in each turn? He is is removed in the 3rd turn.

    • Baris says:

After Muriviev executed, next turn there was a message “he choose to stand with bolsheviks,he will not revolt against us”
There is yet no corruption value for Reds in message log at turn 5

      • Clovis says:

Fixed. Events weren’t in the right processing order. The message has no consequence for play.

To resume, 5% chances Muraviev doesn’t revolt: remains in play standing with Reds
90% chances he revolts and is executed: Muraviev is removed from play
5% chances he revolts successfully, passing to Whites with part of the Red units in Simbirsk area.

Oh, if the player has moved out Muraviev outside Simbirsk area, Muraviev is always executed.

      • Clovis says:

No message about corruption: corruption level = 0. I haven’t coded notification for 0 level.

  13. Baris says:

    Thanks,
In last 4 turns(as far as I remember) both Stalin and Bonch Bruevic stack stay locked in Don. And currently Bruevic stack run out of supply in Ekaterinodar. It is wad but think it is either a bit harsh or bad luck.
Also in many turns Reds have 0 EP. I have used the option Professional army and reduce corruption one time. Corruption level is 1 but stacks in Don locked.

Southern whites annexed baku without fighting Baku Garrison. Approaching Turkish army didn’t attack baku.

    • Clovis says:

Send me the saves I may give a look at

    • Clovis says:

      OK.

6 months ago, I tried to solve the problem when Reds are committing early in 1918 forces in the Kuban. I wrote 2 events, working perfectly, as your game is demonstrating, but poorly engineered in gameplay terms.

Back a few weeks ago, I was convinced to have replaced these events with better ones….My bad. The new events are now really in the files and the old are gone.

The new events is just creating Cossack small band activity between Salsk and Tzaritsyn, endangering the vital Red supply lines.

Moreover, I’ve discovered tonight there was an old hole in Southern Whites AI events. I understand better now why Southern White AI isn’t more concerned with this railway. Going to fix that. And to upload a new version.

      • Baris says:

        Thank you.
Agree. Combining froces coming from Tzaritzyn overwhelming or at least creating strategic disadvantage to whites. Cutting rail lines by event or by AI is more natural solution.
White AI should better defend Salsk and prioritize gaining MC on the rail lines. She is doing more or less that but shouldn’t go south.

      • Clovis says:

The Southern White situation at start is one of the most precarious I ever seen in history and wargames. Going South is almost madatory to grab the Terek and Stavropol areas , because without them, there’s only one area for regional decisions until November 18. Taking Tzaritsyn in 1918 is wishful thinking against even average player, and for AI, it’s almost impossible. But you’re right, in the same time AI must protect its flank from Red outbursts from Tzaritsyn. The game engine allows too much troop movement on this railway and it creates a natural offensive strategy for Reds. Players are sometimes in disarray , AI yet more. However, the hole in AI event I’ve found tonight explains maybe partially this. We’ll see.

Turkish AI needs yet a bit work. But I don’t want to script it to launch each game a strong attack against Baku, for replayability sake.

  14. Baris says:

I have uploaded last 3 saves.

  15. Baris says:

Southern whites situation in the begining is really in need of some thinking and redesign.Especially for AI. Southern whites in Kuban should have more chance to survive till maybe mid 1919. Maybe some rail lines should start as damaged to Tzaritzyn.

Yes rail movement is too quick and too surprising for AI and in Pbem. That’s why I like movement better in ROP πŸ™‚ It is more slow and more natural.
But new white AI you mention can maybe handle it better.

    • Clovis says:

Rail repair is very easy and would not hamper that much a determined Red player. I disagree with movement, as in FY/RUDS it recreates well the surprises and fast advances of the war.

ROP is another story. columns are too much close in AGE of the real Napoleonic Army Corps…

      • Baris says:

Yes, the last solution is better, at least one region rail cut.
I have tried with the newest version. Δ°t is typical red player will want to merge stacks in Ekaterinodar. First Krasnov attacked and all his stack destroyed. Second Denikin attacked with seperate froce and he took losses. Bonch Bruevic was entrenched. I think White AI shouldn’t rush to Ekaterinodar as Reds move and entrench faster because of railroads. In The other version they didn’t rush. I will finish this game and see how will it turn out.

  16. Baris says:

Oh and by the way kuban partisans cut the rail in Tikhiy and Tzartizyn is under siege in forth turn. I have missed that πŸ™‚ Brilliant.

    • Clovis says:

Fatal Years AI are varying their operations each game. From time to time, AI will do stupid things, and sometimes more inspired moves.

Don’t forget too they are evnts for Typhus in Kuban. Moreover, Ekaterinodar isn’ta depot until its capture by Whites. If White AI is menacing Tzaritsyn and if the rail is cut, supply will become scarce. In the end, Reds should starve.

In the same time, Siberian AI in your game was in better position in October 18 than in reality. He’s able to inflict large NM losses with the capture of a few key cities.

      • Clovis says:

Last, Sunday Bonch Bruevich will not move anymore.

      • Baris says:

Just an example white stack(10k men) while sieging Tzaritzyn didn’t assault the city. There were no Lenin Lines only single militia as garrison. Stack moving to Salsk all the way from Mikhaliovka. But Kuban partisans are brilliant. I will continue to see how will it turn out.
Yes SΔ°berians are very good. I will play the whole campaign to get the picture.
        Thanks

      • Clovis says:

The “hard AI” is very weak for siege operations in any AGE game and I’ve no real way to fix this. Often, the AI will leave the siege to come back a turn later…At least, now, Redplayer wil have to garrison more Tzaritsyn.

BTW, you have given to me a nice idea: giving at start control of some of the railroad regions to Southern Whites would prohibit rail movement for Reds from Tzaitsyn, at least for the very first turns….It should work.

Another track of enhancement is to allow Southern Whites to get some of the bonus tied to the capture of Ekaterinodar if they control Novorossiysk, Azov and someother regions in the Kuban. To be explored until Sunday.

  17. Baris says:

    Sounds good. Great
